Is your site user friendly? We've
all heard that term a thousand times - but what does usability
really mean? And does it really matter? The answer is YES,
it absolutely matters. Think about your own behavior when you
visit a web site.
- Do you get annoyed if a page loads to slowly?
- Do you leave and go to another company's web site if
it is too hard to find what you're looking for or if you're
forced to register to access any product or service information?
- Have you abandoned a partially filled shopping cart because
the process took too long or was too confusing to complete?
- Have you ever been frustrated by lousy on site search results?
- Have you quickly left a site because of overbearing audio
or animations?
These are only a few of the many issues to consider relative
to your site's usability. It sounds like such a simple concept,
but in practice it is often poorly executed. The good news
is, usability is more of a science than an art and issues can
usually be corrected relatively quickly. Site performance and
traffic can improve dramatically by improving the user experience
through sound usability planning, testing and implementation. |
